Default Family Filter Coming Soon + Ignore Feature

After about two years of getting this suggestion from visitors, we've decided to go ahead and do it. Basically, it's very simple and should only make things better for everyone.

First of all, you should see the Family Filter option in the top right corner of the main site. If you don't, then press CONTROL + R

When the filter is "on" the following will not be immediately shown:

- sexy videos
- violent videos (typically from the shocking/fights categories)
- adult-related thumbnails and link text under "around the web" and "top referrers"

Essentially, when you come to the site with the filter On, it's going to look like a site your 13 year old nephew can visit. This should accomodate 1) those visitors that don't want to see violence and girls, 2) people at work with bosses that would actually care, and 3) some younger visitors who shouldn't be exposed to the adult-ish thumbnails and videos.

Now, what happens when you turn the filter Off?

You get the *exact* same NT that you've always had. It'll be 100% the same when you turn the filter off, and all it takes is one click to turn it off. Then it'll remember your settings and you won't ever have to do it again...at least not til you clear all your data in your browser. For visitors with registered accounts, we'll probably have the family filter Off by default for you guys, so you shouldn't really notice any difference, even from the start.

Hopefully this will be a good addition. I think it'll go live tomorrow, so if you come to the site and don't see any violence or girls, and you want to, just turn the filter off.

Okay, and one more thing we're adding within the next day or two is an Ignore feature for the registered users. If there's another user who annoys the hell out of you, you'll now be able to click a button and he vanishes forever...at least for you.

If you have any thoughts or further suggestions, let me know here. Let's keep this thread on topic.

Thanks.

UPDATE: The feature is live now. If you notice any problems, please let me know.

Awesome, on both counts.

A forum suggestion...can you add a "New Posts" tab at the bottom of the page like you have at the top? Just so we wouldn't have to scroll all the way back up to the top...

either way...no biggie

Good luck with that.

With regard to the features They sound great. I can't see why anyone would have a problem with them. Not sure why anyone would go to the vids site with a lot of the cool vids filtered out though.
The ignore feature is a godsend for some, but I only envision using it against the spammers who usually get swiftly banned anyway. If someone is simply annoying to me, I still read their shit. I hate to miss anything.

same here. I've never put anyone on ignore, but i can see why some members would want to. The ignore feature is a good idea.

Thanks everyone. BTW, I think it's going to go live Thursday rather than tomorrow.

@marie, we don't really need a donate button to be honest, but you're more than welcome to donate to my personal account

@gil, I'll try to figure out how to edit the template.

@zykron, oh wait, I removed your post, you off topic bastard.

Eight or so members left in the past few months, because they felt that moderation was weak in dealing with various members. We had a giant grey issue with whether or not Kyo was going beyond forum rules, and he kept claiming that he wasn't violating anything. So, what's your official definition of trolling, how should that definition go into the forums rules, and how many second chances should members get? Modify the forum rules to clarify this stuff, because apparently it's "not simple" to some others.

Also, when is vBulletin going to hide "This member is on your ignore list" messages whenever that person posts? I shouldn't have to see a block of this stuff, and instead in threads post count should just go:
33 - the post
34 - the post
36
37 etc.

instead of

33
34
35 - this message is hidden...
36
37 etc.

P.S. I did actually get pretty upset when you removed my post just there...

EDIT: SPAM OUTBREAKS SUCK!
We've been getting 40 spammers registering a day. Go look at the Banned list!!
Do something to block this shit from even registering.

I want to keep this thread just for discussion of the topic started. It'll be linked from the homepage in a couple of days, so I don't want everyone sifting through 10 pages of off topic posts. I'll PM the moderators about what you just said.
