100 Members, but where are they?

Well, we just hit the 100 member mark for this forum....problem is, none of them post. :(

How can we make this place more exciting?

I was thinking about holding some kind of contest (like a photoshop contest?) in the forum and linking to it from the main page.

Any thoughts or ideas? I'd like to get the forums a bit more active. :)

You know what? This Forum needs more than just --> General Discussion Topics


Here's some of my suggestions:
Gaming Topics: For gamers to talk about games... And I'm sure there are alot of users here like games.
PC talk: Talk about PC or have a problem that you can ask someone about it.
Anime: For Anime topics and anything related to these types.

Special section for Video talks e.g:
Need help finding a video?
Make a Poll to see what type of videos that the users like to see (Car Chases, Fights..etc)

Also some contests will be a great idea as you said.

One important thing: You can add an Arcade Section (Which include: Tetris, Arkaniod ...etc) that users can play games and challenge each other for the High Score

hey scott. i've been lurking. last i checked the forum was like a week ago... the only threads i saw were like... post a pic to pwn the pic bla bla... who WOWs (LOLZ)... and something with letters of your name and birthday to make a sentence. no offense to anyone, but that just not very compelling threadage. the video comments are much more interesting... but those die off after like a day or two.... thats why i'm really looking forward to the upcoming features for the comments... or perhaps forum integration.

i agree with shader_kader, more forum subdivisions would be cool.

Yeah I think you're probably right. What I was afraid of was having like 50 different forum sections with 1 post each.

After the holidays and things settle down a bit, I'll get on that.

Well I also think a fight board is a good idea, someone always gets out of hand and it makes for fine good reading later. Also a Gore board seems to be also a favorite....Funny I wont be in either board, just some observations I have noticed on other forums.

Of course a porn board!

Oh and if we hit a certain mark, we should be able to embed videos and such....imo.

Well Scott the reason for this forum being kinda dead is that you have now two forums actually. Everybody comments in the video part of nothingtoxic. If you somehow make the forum and video part melt together then you will have a forum where you can watch video's as well. That way everybody who now is a member of the videopart automaticly becomes a member of the forum and then you will have lots of lots of members at once who also will post in the forum cause that's what they did already in the videopart of NT.

Of course I know that is a lot of work, you basicly have to start over again hehe.
So the idea is a forum where you can watch and comment on video's instead of a site with video's and a site with a forum.

I think my goal was just to have this forum be kind of an off-topic place where people could bullshit ...whereas the one on the main site is just for the videos (although it becomes a place to BS most of the time)

The community would really build up if the members had more gateways to their posts. You could add a sports forum, a cars forum, a general media forum, and pictures forum, a music forum, a flash animation forum, a forum games category - where all the "Post your Pic" - "Make a Wish" "Pwn the Pic above" type threads go, etc.

Only type of forum I wouldn't recommend is a politics forum, it would just lead to mass flaming on whether or not Dick Cheney is the chief in the states, etc.

spoons and Brock both brought up some excellent suggestions, integrate the videos somehow with the forums. Or maybe something along the lines of a youtube-ish style setup, where you can save vids to you your "favorites," and go back to view the comments thread anytime without having to search for it. The "comments" threads are indeed often hilarious, and occasionally even an enlightening glimpse into the human psyche.

maybe a forum about tv shows and movies because the general entertainment forum in yahoo.com.au gets hundreds of hits a day.

i think u should keep the comments section for now but find a way that the comments people post get posted on a part of the forum, maybe a 'Video Comments' section on the forum. the first post in each video comment thread could be a freeze frame of the vid and scotts comment on the vid like on the comments section, and people that comment should be urged at the bottom to join and post there comment on the forum, and maybe after a while kick the comments section of the video and make it so when u click on 'comments' it goes to the appropriate thread in the 'Video Comments' section.

Well I just joined a couple of days ago, because I'm a huge fan of your site. And most people here seem cool and some even mentally stable enough. Now, I haven't really posted anything on this forum because I'm one busy guy, I've got exams coming in from all directions. But mostly because I never really joined a forum, so I'm slowly learning how to post etc, was about to post a pic of myself...but apparently that got taken down. I'll be checking the forums often though for a quick read and laugh before I go to work, study,workout or bandpractice. Cheers for the daily update, dude, it helps with the stress
